The Washington Post convinced violin virtuoso Joshua Bell to pretend to be a street musician and play outside a Metro station. Great experiment! (via kottke)

Pat Venditte is a switch pitcher, the only one in Division I baseball! (via kottke)

13 TV Shows That Should Never Have Been Cancelled - it includes Firefly and Arrested Development, so it gets a thumbs up from me. (via digg)

Before reading the article about the canceled shows, I guessed a majority of them were from FOX. Looks like I was right. FOX has typically been quick on the trigger to off some good shows. Julie and I are currently hooked on "Dead Like Me" (Showtime, not FOX), and we have the DVDs for both seasons Netflixed. I would also add "Wonderfalls" (another, clever short-lived FOX show) and "Cupid" (a short-lived ABC show with the best, wittiest dialog I've ever heard).

I second the "Wonderfalls" suggestion. The theme song alone makes it one of my favorite canceled shows.
(PS. Hi Doug!)

The Joshua Bell article made me cry.

And the TV article made me want to see every single episode of almost every one of those shows. Yep. I've got some watchin' to do! Why is it always the best stuff that's cancelled, and the most inane and useless tripe that goes on for 10 seasons? There are certainly some exceptions, but damned if that isn't the trend...
