Watson services available on Bluemix - Machine Translation [Dec. 6th, 2014|11:31 am]
[Current Mood |cheerfulcheerful]

Just a reminder - if you sign up for Bluemix before December 10, you can get a free Amazon $10 gift card! (and still be entered in the Lumia 822 raffle!) See details here!

The most exciting part of Bluemix for me are the Watson services that you can use - especially because they're in beta right now and you can use them all for free! So let's take a closer look at another good one for apps: Machine Translation.

The Machine Translation service can do translation between English and Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), or French. It can also translate from Arabic to English.

Here's a live demo of the Machine Translation service, and here's where you can get started with a sample app.

The potential for this service is obvious - you could use this in any sort of social networking app to auto-translate posts, or you could even use this to get a rough pass at localizing your app. This service works well with Language Identification.
